Upcoming Conferences:

The forthcoming ISOPOW 11 meeting will be held in México from September 5th to 9th, 2010.

The ISOPOW Symposia are recognized worldwide for their importance and relevance to those working on the roles of water in foods and related systems. Since ISOPOW 1, held in Scotland in 1974, these symposia have resulted in an important literature cataloging the advances in our understanding of water in foods and other systems. Recent ISOPOW Symposia have linked closely with the pharmaceutical and biological sciences, from the theoretical to practical and technological aspects of water and its relationships with solids in several phenomena occurring at different length scales (from macroscopic to molecular dimensions). Please join in a lively discussion of the many roles of water in foods and other systems and make ISOPOW 11 a memorable event.

The Royal Society of Chemisty Discussion meeting on Water, Hydration and Biophysical Properties is being held on Tuesday, September 14th in Nottingham.

The keynote speakers/discussion leaders will be professors Felix Franks (London), Joe Zaccai (ILL, Grenoble) and Martin Blackledge (IBS, Grenoble). Shorter contributions from younger scientists (age <35) are particularly welcome.

The discussion meeting is being held in honor of Dr. Michael Creeth (1924-2010) who, with D. Jordan and J. Gulland, in 1947 discovered hydrogen bonds in DNA and proposed the first 2-chain model for that structure:

The first International Conference on Water and Society, December 5-7, 2011, Las Vegas, Nevada.

This first International Conference on Water and Society aims to provide a multi-disciplinary forum for the presentation and discussion of many issues affecting water resources today. The meeting will encourage trans-disciplinary communication on issues related to the nature of water, and its use and exploitation by society. The conference is motivated by the need to bridge the gap between the broad spectrum of social sciences and humanistic disciplines and specialists in physical sciences, biology, environmental sciences, health and others.

Contributions are invited on a wide range of topics including water as a human right, changing climates, water resources, irrigation, desertification, sanitation and health, and transnational water rights.
